The stands were full, and demand and momentum was in full swing. Market wise, we saw the largest Holstein market movement in the northern direction; in comparison to the past year and a half. Holstein feeders were definitely stronger here Friday, and quite a bit stronger at that. The light Holstein feeders really caught fire, having some light 200# Holstein steers hitting the $1.62 mark. Holsteins in the 300# range got up into the mid $140’s/cwt. The market movement was spread throughout all weight classes. 5 & 6 weight Holsteins on the market top were in the upper teens into the low twenties. Cattle weighing in the 7’s all the way through 1,050# were $90-$103. We’ve been awaiting a positive market swing like this for quite some time now. Things are optimistic, the weather is warm, the grass is green; and most importantly, the constant unknown of daily market fluctuations is hopefully becoming a distant memory. You good folks keep doing what you do best; providing the best product in the entire world, raised right in our own backyards. We tip our hats to you folks, and thank you all very much.
